My Story As A Woman Entrepenuer
Since May is all about celebrating mothers, it’s only fitting to have the founder of LUHV Food, Silvia Lucci, tell her story about being a woman entrepreneur!
Since the beginning of times, women in most societies have experienced inferior status, exploitation, oppression, abuse, and lack of self-determination. I was raised in Argentina during the 1970s and it was a male chauvinistic society. Luckily, my father traveled for work and was away for months at a time, which gave my mother the space to raise me and my brother free of his suggestions. My upbringing showed me that mothers had the power all along to change the generations to come. Not only by nurturing powerful women but also raising strong men capable of looking at women as equals.
Now I have four children including three sons (Facundo, Gabriel, Marcello) and one daughter (Julietta). As their mother, I have the power to shape how they view themselves and each other! I tell my daughter that the ceilings are there, but it’s all about creating new ceilings. I teach my sons to view women as their equals.
For many years, men have dominated the business world. However, women are starting to break the model and establish new rules of engagement. Women are running and jumping ahead into leadership positions. Since many women are naturally compassionate and empathetic, we are in for an upcoming generation of fantastic leaders. I believe this new generation of women leaders will fight socio-economic inequality, environmental racism, unfair laws, and the ravaging of the world we share. The empowerment of women is good for the world and its future.
This future is intrinsically connected with the world we share, and we are its stewards. I recognize that we are only as strong as our weakest link, and today millions of women are still suffering because of their gender, race, poverty and religious beliefs, so the battle continues until all women are free from subjugation.
